What started your journey with sea glass?

After 23 years in London I moved to Kent in January 2018 with my three month old Labrador Bolt.

Walking daily on the beautiful sandy beaches in Kent I discovered that close to the train station was one of the UK’s top ten beach combing sites. What treasures! Victorian pottery, clay pipes, bottle stoppers, torpedo Victorian soda bottles, ginger ale bottles and beautiful tumbled pieces of sea glass.

My collection grew and as did my friendship group as I discovered an entire community of like minded beach combers like me fascinated and excited through finding treasures washed up on the sand and onto the rocks.

What started you making greetings cards using sea glass?

I have my family and friends to thank for starting my sea glass business. It was my Uncle’s Birthday (Uncle Jack) my sister in law’s (Ali) summer birthdays. I thank my friends who had teased me and said “but what are you going to do with all of this stuff?” and I’d told them “I’ll find something I’m sure to make”. So thanks to Ali and thanks to Uncle Jack that’s exactly when I made my first sea glass cards.

I call these my “generation one” sea glass greeting cards! You can see my first creations in the gallery here.
